Details: Special showing; Documentary, “TRIUMP OF THE DREAM”
What:
This
is a tremendous film and a behind the scenes look at the drama,
creation and inspiration of the landing of the two rovers (Spirit and
Opportunity) on Mars 8 years ago. Many of the scientist and visionaries featured in this film have leadership roles on the Curiosity Rover.

Gensler
is a world famous architecture firm that has constantly pushed the
levels of innovation, creativity, and creation of buildings that have
never been done before. The new flagship office (see below) is an example of their vision coming to life.
About the documentary “Triumph of the Dream”:
In
2003, Seeff was invited by Dr. Charles Elachi, the Director of NASA’s
Jet Propulsion Laboratory, to observe the 2 Mars Rovers under
construction in the vast clean rooms on the JPL campus.
As
they walked back to Dr. Elachi’s office discussing the nature and
challenges of the innovative process, Seeff was struck by the profound
courage, conviction and commitment of the thousands of individuals
engaged in a dream to put two Rovers the size of a small motor vehicle
on the surface of Mars, 140 million miles away.
Inspired
to discover whether his observations on the nature of the creative
process in individuals would apply equally to a collective vision of
this scale, Seeff was granted access to key scientists and engineers of
the Mars Exploration Rover mission (MER) and began production on his
documentary film “Triumph of the Dream”.
Seeff’s film explores the moments of inspiration, the failures, the challenges, the uncertainties, and the
lack of fear of failure, even though it was not only a real
possibility, but there had been a prior failed landing, and the tense
moments defined as “7 minutes of terror” when there is hope and
trepidation that the landing on Mars will be a success.

About Norman Seeff:
Norman Seeff,
whose iconic photograph of Jobs sitting cross-legged with a new
Macintosh on his lap was featured on the cover of TIME Magazine and the
back of Walter Isaacson's biography, spoke of Jobs’ intensity and
determination, a quality Seeff says he also saw when he photographed
musical greats Ray Charles and Tina Turner, and film directors Billy
Wilder and Martin Scorsese. “Those people have what I call ‘far vision.’ They look out to the future.” commented Seeff. He continued, “The dreamer always has a vision of the possibilities in the future. That was my sense of Steve.”
Beginning
with an Ike & Tina Turner session in 1975, Seeff began filming his
photo sessions, using them as a launching point to explore the energy
and inspiration of the creative process at work. Since then, over 400 of Seeff’s photo sessions have been recorded on film or video. This footage provides a remarkable insight into the creative process of many of the world’s greatest artists and innovators.
