Dream, Create & do enjoy the sweet life" Marylin Hebert Good luck.
"Women in Animation has launched a pilot program in Los Angeles that'll match neophytes in the field with industry professionals for one-on-one mentorships lasting six months.
The nonprofit organization states that the program is "designed to empower, educate and support mentees by increasing their industry knowledge and access to information through relationships with experienced animation talent."
Applications are due August 22, 2014, and the mentorships will run from October 2014 to March 2015. If this initial program goes well, WIA will consider offering similar initiatives elsewhere around the world.
"Mentoring is one of the principles at the heart of WIA's mission and vision," commented WIA Co-President Kristy Scanlan. “We are excited to launch the mentoring program and look forward to helping each participant develop the professional skills and knowledge she needs to succeed in the animation industry.” Girls & women are rising in entertainment thanks to networking & help from great leaders in the entertainment field. We can all use a hand up the ladder!
According to Martha Lauzen's "Celluloid Ceiling" studies, animation remains one of the least female-friendly pockets in the film industry.
